- Relax, try not to put weight on your knee
- Avoid standing up for a long time
- Ice pack on the knee
Knee pain causes and symptoms
- Sprains and strains: Pain after stretching or often during exercise
- Tendonitis: Pain between the knee cap and shin, often while jumping or running
- Torn ligament: Unable to stand or may hear a popping noise during an injury
- Osgood-Schlatter’s disease: Swelling below the knee cap
- Dislocated kneecap: Knee cap changes shape or direction
- Osteoarthritis: Pain stiffness or mild swelling
- Bursitis: Red, hot, or swelling
- Bleeding in the joint: Swelling or warmth
- Gout: Sudden episodes of worse pain

Knee pain treatments
The treatment depends on the reason behind the pain. But the most standard treatments that a doctor might prescribe are:
- Medicine or pain killer
- Physiotherapy
- Refer you are a hospital for specialist treatment or scan.
Consult a doctor, if
- Knees don’t improve after weeks
- Painful click or locks
- The knee is badly swollen or changed shape
- Redness or heat around your knee
- Unable to move
- Put any weight on the knee
